Brief description of the Semester

The Fundamentals of Drawing, is a practical and comprehensive course for students of all abilities. Opportunities for practice and improvement are offered across a wide spectrum of subjects- still life, plants, landscapes and portraiture- and supported by demonstrations of a broad range of skills, techniques and composition. Students learn perspective drawing, drawing principles, performance and expression. Moreover, you will learn skills and techniques using the same techniques and tools that you’ll eventually need in the workplace. Create your own design, characters and layouts and produce your own films. Creative freedom of your own scripts, characters and layouts and produce your own films. Muscle changes in different poses, fat build up, different body types, simplified muscle map, simplified mannequin and more anatomy details are also explored during this course. This course covers techniques for visual storytelling, methods and exercises to help students generate ideas and learn tips and tricks used in story boarding.

Brief description of the Semester

This course will teach you how to draw your own game art. Illustrating the fundamentals of how to make logos, maps, characters, various top-down perspective boards (like land, seas, forests, etc.), building, buttons and other Game User Interface, upgrade menus, icons and animated FX. Students will be assisted in the process of creating game assets. They will learn how to use the beginner tools and concepts to create usable game assets. They will create objects for game, backgrounds, props and user interfaces. The main goal of this course is understanding concept art and to convey a visual representation of a design, idea or mood for use in films, video games, animation or comic books before it is put into the final product. Students will learn necessary terms and explore strategies when approaching a composition. This course caters more for the development of a stylized rather than a realistic design. Examining principles like anticipation and squash and stretch, which provide characters with a sense of weight and flexibility will  show you how to animate walk cycles, run, jump and picking up weights. Finally, learn how to thumbnail scenes from start to finish, so you can sketch out the action before you commit in fully finalizing an animation. In this course, the students learn how to integrate traditional and digital animation production techniques, to produce an advanced two-dimensional animated outcome. Students will identify and apply industry best practices to their project development.

Brief description of the Semester

In this semester, students learn fundamentals of photo editing techniques using Photoshop.  This would help them to bring out the best in the photos they would have clicked. They would be made to learn and practice techniques like cropping and straightening a photo, improving its lighting and colour, remove unwanted content, adding special effects, sharpening them finally and saving it. This would be done by using a photograph of their choice or a sample file provided by the trainer/instructor/ lecturer. During this course, students would be exposed to Corel Draw which is a vector based application. Corel Draw is a boon for designers as they are able to create ads or collateral for print or for internet. Students would also learn Vector Drawing; create patterns, logos, signage, business cards and calendars. Adobe Illustrator would be introduced to the students as a part of this course. This software is commonly used by graphic designers and technical illustrators. Features of Illustrator would be highlighted which include object-based drawing application; practical exercises in basics of object manipulation including reflecting, shearing and blending; additional content includes subtleties of layering curves toward creating professional, computer-based illustrations etc. In this subject, students will learn Adobe InDesign This would make them familiarized with print layouts and design using InDesign. The project is supported by theoretical information and assignments in the complementary nature of systematic and creative thinking in the various stages of the design process and visual, structural and functional analysis of design system.

Brief description of the Semester

This semester will introduce students to 3D applications and focus on the fundamentals of 3D computer graphics. Students are introduced to the present industry / Production workflow and enhance their knowledge in film, television and the video game industry. In this semester, students learn the process of creating basic properties in an environment and understand the implementation of real life objects into virtual environment. During this course students will learn how to create a house interior/exterior, properties, vegetation, weapons etc. In this course students will have a strong foundation of 3D software and its uses in creating basic shapes, forms and properties in a scene or environment. After gaining sufficient knowledge in 3D, students learn the Anatomical construction and digital re-creation of believable characters and accessories in 3D. Students will develop and construct 3D Characters and accessories intended for animation.

In this semester student understands the importance of materials on a surface and their visibility by shading. Colour theory is the foundation of this course and helps every individual to understand the primary and secondary colours. Painting and texturing is the next milestone to reach and conclude in getting photo realistic characters/ animals/ creatures. In this semester student learns the lighting techniques in real world and the physics involved in real life. Using these skills we apply the lighting to replicate real life by creating diffuse lights, reflections, shadows, indirect illuminations, colours etc. in a 3D scene. This is one of the biggest challenges in industry to implement and execute photorealistic outputs.

Brief description of the Semester

This course deals with e-commerce- origin, its meaning, definition and application of e-commerce. The students would be explained a variety of elementary topics viz.  the Internet and World Wide Web, Security and on Net and Firewall concepts, E-transactions, EDI applications and value added networks, Domain names, web servers, cyber laws etc. in sufficient detail. With the continued increases in bandwidth, it is now possible to incorporate multiple animations on a single page which can change the usability and the marketing scenario for a given website. This subject mainly deals on the design and animation and exposes one to different tools which are/ can be used to create web animations. C is a powerful, flexible, portable and elegantly structured programming language. Since it combines the features of a high-level language with the elements of the assembler, it is suitable for both system and application programming. Also, it is undoubtedly the most widely used general-purpose language today as it brings the students closer to the fundamentals in understanding the working of a computer.  Under this course, the student will develop their portfolio, wherein the user can navigate with help of buttons/menus to various sections of the website.  The semester ends by culminating to a live website.

Brief description of the Semester

Usability is the degree to which software can be used by specified consumers to achieve quantified objectives with effectiveness, efficiency with a sense of satisfaction in a quantified context of use. This assumes importance. This subject deals with usability, explaining the students on its current practices. Also, the students will also learn the Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML). This course adds on the concept of Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) to HTML which transforms simple web pages to SEO friendly designs that ensure faster loading web pages.

The students learn the importance of managing the design factors of a website from a single point control which is a CSS file. Students also learn to use the latest frameworks to build responsive websites. Moving forward as we go about making a dynamic website, this subjects starts by introducing Hypertext Preprocessor continuing with MySQL to build applications on websites that can create, read, update and delete various records. It also focuses on access level to be provided to the users. Visitors to sites need to be able to login, edit their profiles and add comments/content to website and thereby make it more interesting. To do all of this and more, it is necessary for the students to learn using PHP and MySQL.

The emphasis of the project on individually planned design research projects that involve considerations on the given topic. This will involve most of the topics the students would have learnt throughout the program and they will create an actual working website.

Brief description of the Semester

In this semester of motion graphics design. Students learn the importance of motion graphics in today’s industry. Experimenting and exploring new technological approaches in creating digital effects, Titles, Logos and animation for video and web-based applications. This semester introduces the aesthetics of graphic design elements for on-screen titling in television and motion picture media. Emphasis is laid on artistic techniques involving typography, story boarding, layout and composition, motion graphics and image compositing.

The semester focuses on practical, hands-on skills of design essentials; color theory, font selection, Logo designing, Logo animation, motion graphics, 2D effects and project planning. This semester introduces sound design in the context of audio-visual production. Students will be exposed to both theoretical and practical aspects of design and audio-vision. Lectures will introduce concepts to be applied in the analysis of sound design in film and animation works. Students will be asked to develop critical strategies for analysis and will be producing a soundtrack for a given short film/motion graphic video.

Brief description of the Semester

In this semester students learn the production process of creating an animated or a VFX movie. This gives an in-depth knowledge of how animation studios work and transfers the same production system to a student’s career during the learning process. During the portfolio stage, students learn to document their knowledge of concept, characters and animation with advanced levels of application. Students work on multiple in-class exercises designed to build their understanding, proficiency, workflow speed and critical artistic eye and produce a document for showcasing. During the project stage, students extend their knowledge of modeling, texturing, animation, lighting and rendering, compositing with advanced levels of application.
