It is designed for aspiring artists like you, who have already learnt basics in Animation and are interested in applying their creativity in animation.
MVA in Animation helps you develop the expertise required to become a successful animator. You will visualize, conceptualize and bring characters to life and give them a personality in an equally stimulating CG scene, with the help of hands-on instructions and valuable industry insights.
In this program, you get to work with the same tools and softwares as used by design professionals in Real Time, in a studio like environment, which will sharpen your skills and forge ahead a career in this hugely creative and in-demand industry. The program will run you through the new world of animation, shading and lighting, modeling realistic characters, etc that are increasingly integral to today’s advanced animation industry.
In the first two semesters of this course, students learn the creative process of designing a character and a scene layout. Which includes designing a concept or a character, right from the fundamentals to the details using 3D and sculpting software. On the next level of this course from semester three, students get an exposure in using the digital 3d art for shading and texturing. This helps in completing a design or a concept from initial blocking, sculpting, staging, texturing and lighting to final compositing.
A wide range of art and design works gathered though the 4 semesters, lead to a comprehensive portfolio, that gives the student the best chance to enter the animation industry. The Semester-tabs below takes you to a tour of the entire course, quenching your thirst to learn, part by part!
In this semester, students learn about fundamentals of traditional animation and implementing the same using digital technology. This course also aims to provide students with a strong foundation & transferable skills in Digital Animation Production processes, a solid understanding of the Production Pipeline and techniques for both 2D & 3D. The main goal of this course is of understanding concept art and to convey a visual representation of a design, idea, and/or mood for use in films, video games, animation, or comic books before it is put into the final product. This semester will introduce students to 3D applications and focus on the fundamentals of 3D computer graphics. Students are introduced to the present industry / Production workflow and enhance their knowledge in film, television and the video game industry.

In this semester, Character design is a vital component of creativity work. Character is what drives the story and breathes life into a film. The design of characters for the film, begins during the initial stages of the development of the film. Character designers work closely with the director and the script, in order to bring the characters to life. Students will have a strong foundation of 3D software and its uses in creating basic shapes, forms and properties in a scene or environment. After gaining sufficient knowledge in 3D, students learn the Anatomical construction and digital re-creation of believable characters and accessories in 3D. Students will develop and construct 3D Characters and accessories intended for animation. In this course, students will have a strong foundation on 3D modeling software, which helps in adding believable muscle structure, anatomy, forms, volumes and details on a character. Students will also gain knowledge on building armor with wear and tear as seen in video games and movies.

In this semester, student learns the basic importance of a material on an object and its properties which change due to lighting techniques in real world and the physics involved in real life. Using these skills we apply the lighting to replicate real life by creating diffuse lights, reflections, shadows, indirect illuminations, colours etc. in a 3D scene. This is one of the biggest challenges in industry to implement and execute photorealistic outputs. In this course, students learn Matte Painting techniques on the aspect of background elements for visual effects. Matte painters create set extensions to supplement 3D elements where time constraints may not allow for full 3D implementation. Students will be learning about the steps and processes involved in creating a realistic character portrait. Throughout the course you will be learning advanced techniques and workflows behind creating photorealistic skin textures and shaders. We will teach sculpting the model and what to look for when developing your character’s appearance, as well as setting up lights and cameras for our final composition.

In this semester, students learn the production process of creating an animated or a VFX movie. This gives an in-depth knowledge of how animation studios work and transfer the same system from production to a student’s career during the learning process. During the project stage, students extend their knowledge of concept, characters, matte painting, and digital painting with advanced levels of application. Students work on multiple in-class exercises designed to build their understanding, proficiency, workflow speed and critical artistic eye.
